Medical Research Council (MRC)
OVERVIEW
The MRC was founded in 1913 as Medical Research Committee and Advisory Council, with the aim of properly distributing research funds in the UK. Its first efforts were addressed to the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis. As part of the United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) from 2018, it is still at the forefront in coordinating and delivering research funds for high-impact projects on human health.
