BIOGRAPHY

Mahesh (Max) Parmar is the Director of the Medical Research Council (MRC) Clinical Trials Unit and the Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology, and Professor of Medical Statistics and Epidemiology at the University College of London (UCL). With a background formation in Mathematics, Fluid Mechanics and Statistics, he joined the MRC in 1987. His main interest is in make clinical trials more and more efficient in different areas, from oncology to neurodegenerative and infectious diseases, improving the timeline from discovery science in the lab to implementation in the clinic. Founding member of the National Cancer Research Network, and his Associate Director for over 10 years, he received the Order of British Empire Medal in 2019 and the Bradford Hill Medal in 2024.
