BIOGRAPHY

Therese Sørlie is a molecular biologist who specialises in cancer functional genomics. She is head of the Department of Cancer Genetics, Institute for Cancer Research at Oslo University Hospital and adjunct professor at the University of Oslo, in Norway. She achieved her PhD in Molecular genetics at the University of Oslo in 2000, before attending a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University. There, together with Anne-Lise Børresen-Dale and other colleagues, Sørlie defined the uniqueness of molecular portraits of breast cancer which paved the way to the molecular classification scheme that is implemented in international guidelines for breast cancer treatment. Her current research interests include tumour evolution and biomarkers for progression of breast and endometrial cancer.
