BIOGRAPHY

Martine Piccart, medical oncologist expert in breast and ovarian cancer, is currently Director of Medicine at the Jules Bordet Institute and professor at the Université Libre de Brussels (UBL), in Belgium. After achieving the medical certification, she worked as a fellow at the New York University Medical Center, in the United States, then moving back in Brussels. In 1999, together with medical oncologist Aron Goldhirsch, she founded the Breast International Group to accelerate and improve the network between European research group in breast cancer. Later, in 2012-2013 she served ESMO as President in 2012-2013 and as co-chair, together with Elisabeth De Vries, of the Task Force on the development of the ESMO-Magnitude Clinical Benefit Scale (MCBS). Today, she is still part of the ESMO-MCBS Working Group working on updating and reviewing this tool for scoring the clinical benefit of cancer drugs.
