BIOGRAPHY
Hartmut Döhner is a German haematologist at the University of Ulm whose work has been central to the molecular revolution in AML. Building on Falini’s discovery of NPM1 mutations, his group integrated key prognostic mutations, including NPM1, FLT3, and biallelic CEBPA into a unified risk classification. As lead author of the European LeukemiaNet (ELN) recommendations published in 2010 and updated in 2017 and 2022, Döhner codified the integration of molecular data into AML management. The ELN classification is now the global standard for risk assessment and treatment guidance.
