Miguel Sanz is Professor Emeritus of the Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria La Fe and Honorary Professor of the Department of Medicine at the University of Valencia. As the chairman of the Spanish PETHEMA Group, he made a significant impact on the field of APL in Spain, leading several seminal trials and establishing the risk stratification, which was subsequently named after him (the Sanz risk-score). Throughout his career, he has authored 125 papers on APL, culminating in the highly cited European guidelines for APL diagnosis and management.
