BIOGRAPHY
Hungarian chemist (1885–1966), active at the University of Copenhagen and later at the University of Freiburg. He first described the tracer principle, which underlies the use of radionu-clides to study biological processes. Hevesy conducted pioneering metabolic studies using radioactive isotopes and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1943.
